Venereology and infectious skin diseases


Venereology is not a separate field in medicine; it deals with the study and treatment of venereal diseases (STIs). These can be caused by microorganism like bacteria, viruses, parasites or fungi, but transmission takes place through skin, this is the reason venereology and dermatology is affiliated. The most commonly diagnosed diseases discussed in this field are syphilis, gonorrhea and lice. Autoimmune infection like HIV is also treated by dermatologists and venereologists
